Development, Tutor
Mrs. Heidi Null comes to us having previously served as the Director of Academics at a local Christian school, and having served as an Ambleside Fellow on staff at Ambleside Colorado before that. She is a career educator, and has served for years both as a school administrator and as a classroom teacher.
During her recent Masters degree studies in Classical Education at the University of Dallas, she felt increasingly drawn to Charlotte Mason and to serving directly with students in the classroom. She says, “I am drawn to the peaceful atmosphere and curriculum of living books.” When she’s not at school, she enjoys an active life with her three daughters and her husband.
Music Instructor
Ashley has a Master of Music in Vocal Performance from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and a BA in Vocal Performance from Colorado Mesa University. She found her love of singing at The Theatre Project, her local community theatre in Grand Junction, and in 2016 began volunteering there to teaching individual voice lessons. She continued her passion of teaching with the Bridge to Arts and Music afterschool program in San Francisco, and now is the music director for Mile High Youth Theatre here in Denver.
Ashley has performed in operas through out the US and most recently in Vienna, Austria. She has been a part of workshops for Broadway musicals and is currently singing in the Opera Colorado chorus. Ashley enjoys the arts, traveling, and spending time with her two adorable cats. She is ecstatic to be part of the Ambleside community, where students are able to grow and expand their personal expression by engaging in music and the arts through their love of the Lord.
Upper Grades and High School Spanish
Dr. Kevin Taylor has a PhD in Religion from Boston University, as well as an MEd in Curriculum and Instruction and a BA in Spanish from Wichita State University. He has taught and directed programs in Christian schools for over two decades in Guatemala, Kansas, and Colorado. In addition to working at Ambleside, Kevin directs a consulting project named Wellspring Christian Education that helps educators in non-Ambleside Christian schools invite their students into the Story and life of God.
In his spare time, he enjoys hanging out with his wife and two daughters, drinking non-coffee beverages in coffee shops with friends, reading spiritual formation books by authors such as Dallas Willard and C.S. Lewis, eating Chex Mix and other salty snacks, and surfing eBay in search of twice-in-a-lifetime bargains.
He has benefited in recent years from Ambleside’s emphasis on joy in relationship (“It’s good to be me here with you!”) and is excited to be joining the community to serve as a teacher and to assist with teacher formation.
Grade 10 Teacher
Mr. Jim Morski joined Ambleside in 2023 after working in higher education for the previous 14 years. He has a Bachelor of Science in Packaging from Michigan State University and a Masters of Math and Math Education from DePaul University in Chicago. Most recently, Jim was a math professor and department chair of math and engineering at Community College of Denver.
Originally from Michigan, Jim and his wife moved to Denver in 2015, where they still reside with their three daughters. In his spare time (which isn’t much!), he loves cycling up any of the numerous mountain roads here in Colorado, baking sourdough bread, and playing chess.
The vision of an Ambleside education aligns closely with Jim’s own teaching outlook. He views all students as fully capable learners with the ability to succeed and it is the teacher’s job to create an environment where learning can occur. He notes, “It is incredibly exciting to be part of a school that promotes curiosity and the growth and dignity of the whole child, all within a Christ-centered framework.”
Grade 7
Haley comes to us from the International Christian School of Budapest, where she served for two years teaching middle school Bible and English Language Learning. As a fully funded missionary teacher during her time in Hungary, she has a heart for finding and filling a need wherever Christ leads, which is now to Ambleside.
Haley has a BA in English from MSU Denver as well as an MA in Biblical and Theological Studies from Denver Seminary, and has served as a missionary with TeachBeyond and Youth With A Mission. In her free time she enjoys bouldering, running, shooting film photography, learning about other cultures, and searching local cafes for the best flat white.
After beginning her teaching career in Hungary, she is excited to continue learning and growing as an educator in a Christ-centered environment with the staff and students at Ambleside.
Grade 3
Emily is a recent graduate of Liberty University, where she received her B.Ed. in Elementary Education. Her passion for working with children began when she was in middle school, volunteering with her church’s AWANA program. From there, she began tutoring and teaching private and group music lessons, which she continued through college. Emily’s interest civics led her to compete in and win the Under 30 Speech Contest at the 2023 Western Conservative Summit as well as Constituting America’s Best College PSA.
Emily is a Colorado native who is blessed to live with her two wonderful parents, older sister, and younger brother. She enjoys anything artsy, puzzles, audio dramas, and writing songs on her ukulele.
In discovering Ambleside through a friend who interned here, Emily was amazed to find how similar the Charlotte Mason philosophy and Ambleside approach is to her own homeschool experience. She is thrilled to work in a setting where she can share her faith and passion for learning, and is eager to serve students and families in the Ambleside community.
Grade 2
Kristen has a BA in Psychology with a minor in Biology from the University of California, Santa Barbara. She earned her Masters Degree in Professional Elementary Education from the University of Denver and has taught in public, private, and homeschool collaborative settings, most recently in the Arma Dei Academy Collaborative Program, where she taught 2nd grade. She has been married to her husband for 33 years. They have three grown children and one new grandbaby. She enjoys traveling with her husband, reading, trail running, investing in friendships, tending to her garden, and loving the Lord with her whole heart. Previous to education, Kristen spent a decade working in real estate, and as a Master Gardener, founded a boutique gardening business.
She is passionate about keeping students’ love and excitement for learning alive and using Charlotte Mason’s methodology as an opportunity to point students’ eyes back to their Creator through studying His creation. Kristen is delighted to join the Ambleside community and model what it means to be a lifelong learner who passionately loves teaching.
Kindergarten
Leah felt God’s call to be a teacher as a young college student coaching a summer swim team. She studied elementary education at Indiana University, and later earned her Master’s degree in Reading Curriculum and Instruction from Grand Canyon University. After teaching in public schools in Indiana and Colorado for seven years, Leah began teaching at Ambleside Colorado. This experience was providentially impactful on her family and her understanding of education, and after leaving Ambleside in 2015 to raise her young children, Leah started an education blog and small business that has helped many families learn how to implement Charlotte Mason’s philosophy in their homes. She also taught a one-day-a-week preschool program at Bethany Busy Bee for the past two years.
Leah and her husband Nate homeschooled their three children, ages 11, 8, and 6 for six years. Together they enjoy hiking, traveling, board games, and being outside. Leah is also an avid reader.
After using her teaching skills mostly at home, Leah felt God’s calling outside the home to teach once again at Ambleside. She’s excited to have the opportunity to teach little ones math skills, writing, and especially reading, something she feels passionate about. After learning about the Charlotte Mason philosophy, she couldn’t dream of educating her children or others using any other method.

I desire for my own growth and to contribute to the learning and growth of children in the Ambleside community.”
Grade 1 Aide and Tutor
Ms. Hailey Stengel is currently pursuing an Associate’s degree at Crown College while working as an intern and tutor at Ambleside Colorado. She is passionate about education, as well as serving communities and sharing the love of Jesus, especially in Uganda, Africa.
When she’s not at school, Hailey enjoys spending time with her friends, cooking, interior decorating, reading, and learning to watercolor.
She fell in love with Ambleside’s use of Charlotte Mason’s philosophy after hearing about it from her siblings when they started as students at Ambleside Colorado. She cherishes the opportunity to help our students learn and grow academically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually while developing strong characters and hearts for the Lord.

Mrs. Crystal Hollander has a Bachelor of Arts in elementary education with minors in language arts and health from Calvin College and an Associates degree in physical therapy. She has taught 2nd grade at Highland Christian School in Highland, Indiana. With both her children at Ambleside School, she has enjoyed volunteering and it has given her a new excitement and passion to return to teaching.
She is excited to be part of this wonderful community. “The environment of learning at Ambleside is truly a holistic Christian education. I love how it teaches a discipline of habits and allows the child to learn from a place of joy rather than from a need to get good grades.”
Art Instructor — Grades 2 through 12
Mrs. Lani Whitley has worked at Ambleside since it opened in 2010. Lani has a degree in Art, with an emphasis in illustration, from California State University, Fullerton. She has loved art her whole life and still remembers the thrill of a new box of crayons or paints from her childhood years! Her teaching experience includes 10 years with Monart School of the Arts in Greenwood Village and four more years at the same location with Artful Journey Fine Arts School.
She also spent two years teaching art for Heritage Elementary School in Highlands Ranch. “I am very excited to work with fellow teachers and students who possess such excellent goals in mind and heart. I am also glad to embrace the Charlotte Mason philosophy of teaching and apply it to our learning experience in the art room.”
High School Chemistry
Mrs. Kamala Strickland received a Bachelors of Veterinary Medicine from the Royal Veterinary College, London, UK in 2011. Shortly after, she returned to her home country of Bermuda to practice as a veterinary surgeon. Yet, it was her service in the youth ministry of her church that revealed a deep calling to serve children. Kamala gained a Post Graduate Certificate of Education from The University of Sunderland and launched her career in education, teaching 4th grade at a public school in Bermuda.
Two years later, she moved to the US to marry her husband, Jonathan. Kamala enjoys hiking with her dogs, painting, cooking, and exploring beautiful places, like Colorado! She is excited to be a part of the Ambleside community and be immersed in this wonderful atmosphere of joy in learning.
Lower Grades Spanish Instructor, High School Administrative Assistant
Ms. Kathy Luch taught junior high at Ambleside School of Ocala for three years, and 5th grade for Ambleside Colorado for one year. Prior to this, she taught international students at University of North Carolina, Charlotte and high school students at Tech of Monterrey in Mexico City. After receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry and a teaching credential from San Diego State University, she began to work for a non-profit Christian student organization in Arizona, Mexico, and California. During that time she received a Master’s Degree from Reformed Theological Seminary in Theology.
These experiences brought out her love of teaching and learning, and after one of her best friends introduced her to Ambleside, it seemed a perfect fit. “I love seeing students inspired by a wide range of living ideas, and to see them come alive as they think critically and come up with new ideas of their own. It also brings me joy to see students grow closer in love for and knowledge of God and others.”
Director of Community Relations
Mrs. Rebecca Borger has a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies (English, Biblical Studies, and Community Development) from Covenant College, where she and her husband Scott met on the cross-country team. After marrying and moving to Colorado, she worked as a grant manager and grant writer for a nonprofit dedicated to youth development and mentoring. After the birth of her children, she was a stay-at-home parent while also volunteering in leadership at her church, MOPS, and Ambleside.
She continues to enjoy giving her time in ways that develop and support community culture. Originally from Georgia, Rebecca had the joy of receiving a Charlotte Mason centered education during her middle school years. That experience made an indelible impact, and she began the search for a similar school in Denver long before her own two children came into the world. She and her family consider it a gift to be part of the Ambleside community: a group of life-long learners committed to growth of the mind, spirit, and character.

Non-Cash Giving
Ambleside Colorado can accept many types of assets, including:
IRA Charitable Rollover or Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD)
A QCD is a distribution from an IRA which is paid directly to Ambleside Colorado after the IRA owner turns 70½. An IRA owner can make QCDs of up to $100,000 annually. If your distribution counts as a QCD, the amount is not reported as taxable income on your tax return. Amounts that exceed $100,000 or don’t fit the QCD rules are typically treated as regular distributions. QCDs are also sometimes referred to as an IRA charitable rollover.
IRA Required Minimum Distribution (RMD)
An IRA owner who has turned 72 is required to distribute a certain portion of his or her IRA every year. This is known as your RMD. If you do need the funds, donating to Ambleside Colorado is a great option.
If you would like additional information about how to provide an IRA charitable gift to Ambleside Colorado,
Retirement Plans
You may not be aware that if you name your children as the ultimate beneficiaries of your I.R.A. or Qualified Retirement Plan(s), they may only receive one-third of the total assets. By gifting all or a portion of your retirement plan(s) to a charitable organization, the full value is generally passed to the charity and may ultimately make a greater impact. The amount received by a charitable organization will be fully deductible from your estate.
Bequests
A Bequest made during your lifetime is the most common method of planned giving and enables you to distribute assets to individuals and charitable organizations in the amounts or proportions you indicate. An estate gift also provides the opportunity to make a major gift while preserving assets during a lifetime, with a reduction in federal estate taxes.
Life Insurance
A gift of Life Insurance is a simple way to make a legacy gift. You may name a charity as the beneficiary of all or a portion of a life insurance policy. A charity can also be named as the alternate or final beneficiary. At your death, all proceeds would pass immediately to the named charitable organizations. Policies originally intended to protect a spouse, child or even complete a mortgage payment may no longer be necessary. Consider how these policies may be used to help fulfill other needs or causes.
If you would like additional information about how to include Ambleside Colorado in your legacy giving,

Through these experiences, a passion for academic and spiritual growth emerged in Andrew. The longer he spends at Ambleside schools, the more convinced Andrew is that this is the best way to educate children.

Ms. Caleigh Hill comes to us most recently from four years at Strive Prep Kepner Charter School in Denver, where she served as a middle school teacher and athletics director. Before that Caleigh worked as a wilderness guide, a crossfit and volleyball coach, and a ceramics studio manager. Caleigh has a Bachelor of Arts from the University of St. Francis in Visual Art Education, and played collegiate volleyball during her time there.
She enjoys the outdoors and completed a two-week backpacking hike in Lake Tahoe, where she raised money for Ambleside’s Tuition Assistance Fund. Many of our junior high students know her from Calvary Englewood’s Youth Group, where she is a volunteer. She enjoys teaching in Ambleside’s smaller class sizes, in which she can connect with students to help them learn and grow.
